Crude Oil Rises as Dollar Weakens, IEA Boosts Demand Outlook

Bloomberg -- March 12 (Bloomberg) -- Crude oil rose toward $83 a barrel in New York, poised for a second weekly gain, as the dollar weakened and the IEA bolstered its outlook for oil demand.

The International Energy Agency raised its forecast for global oil demand this year for a second month as consumption in Asia rises more than expected. The dollar weakened, raising the appeal of crude for hedging inflation, and European stocks rose, extending the Stoxx Europe 600 Index’s second weekly advance.

“Oil is being helped by a weaker dollar and a somewhat friendlier equity market,” said Eugen Weinberg, analyst at Commerzbank AG in Frankfurt. “But the gains aren’t going to last. Demand from refineries is still very low and prices are way too high for demand to recover strongly.”

This is caused more by our elected officials taking money from oil and enviros then selling us down the river. As much as oil and environmentalism are supposedly at odds, the more strict enviro regs get the higher the prices get and profit is a percentage of price. 5% of 1 Billion is more than 5% of 500 Milllion.

Today the dollar is weak and next week it will be strong. And during both times the dollar will not even change.

Oil is out of control. Even though we are doing our part conserve, we are being punished by other sountries because they are not. This is not fair to us.

When we become nondependant on oil they can raise the priceasmuch as they want but for now leave it alone.

We are back to the excuse of the day for speculators. One day it is lower dollar, the next lower inventories, the next it is pirates, the next it is Nigerian attacks, the economy is recovering, cold weather, switch over to summer blends and on and on.

increased demand = growth = higher gas prices = higher interest rates = higher stock market = higher inflation

the natural order of things

The same old merry-go-round. I'm ready for an EV. I hope the oil barons and speculators choke on oil, especially when we, here in the U.S., become energy independent. I hope it happens in my lifetime.

Our "dictator in chief" is systematically destroying our economy. This is not incompetence, error, or lack of understanding on his part.... It HAS TO BE COMPLETELY INTENTIONAL!! Everything he has done has been against good logic, you can make no other conclusion, than it is his intention to bring us to economic disaster!

The faster he can be removed, legally, the sooner we can restore sanity to Washington.

You can't build up humongous debt like the U.S. has and expect to have a strong dollar. Funny money creates a false illusion - much closer to the edge than most people think.

And why is the dollar weaker??? Yes, that is the fault of the President and the congress. Deficit spending will drive the value of the Dollar down.

He's "changing" things. Too bad they are not for the better.

So, I will agree that the US dollar is weak (and will continue to be) because of this administration; and that the Chinese economy is booming and they are sucking up Middle East supplies.

Dollar rises, gasoline price at the pump rises. Dollar falls, gasoline price at the pump rises.

Do y'all see something wrong with the facts here?

Not good news for the U.S. economy, and hope of recovery.
