Alaskans suffer nation's highest gasoline prices
Friday, July 18, 2008
Reuters -- Think you're feeling pain at the gas pump? Consider the residents of Lime Village, Alaska, an isolated Denaina Athabascan Indian community where gasoline prices have hit $8.55 a gallon.

The price is severely curtailing movement around the interior Alaska village, where four-wheelers are sitting idle, said Ursula Graham, administrator for the Lime Village Traditional Council.

Isn't it strange that the native alaskan people have to pay the highest gas prices. Why are the prices so high, when the oil is coming from under their feet.

Maybe now that Fairer Sarah is the latest star on scene, they can get some of the oil which is right under their own feet and stop "ex"porting it to the "U.S." Sarcasm, y'all.

THIS JUST GOES TO SHOW THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG EVERYWHERE! REMEMBER, THE GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE AND SOMEBODY ELSE IS PAYING FOR IT.

Businesses don't pay, they collect for the government. If they have to spend millions on a cleanup, that's part of the cost of doing business, and consumers have to pay.

Thats what happens when Alaska sued them over that oil spill 10 years ago. people didnt think that in the long run they would end up paying for it them selves.

Perhaps we are reading about our future, I do not find certain reactions of glee about this amusing, rather immature and childish.

Perhaps if $8.55 or even $10 pumps prices hit in the lower 48, people would demand (and use) better mass transit, and take other measures like walking, bicycling to do errands that we thoughtlessly drive to now...

When gasoline was much cheaper I saw several times a man open his garage door, back his car out, drive directly across the street, park his car with the engine idling, buy a pack of cigarettes, a drive back across the street to his garage... seriously, across the street! Not up or down, directly across! That, is an addiction to oil!

According to CNN Money report Oil Light Crude closed at $128.88 on Friday. So much for the mainstream media crowd.

No taxes, high wages for isolated areas,,bonus when gasoline goes up...I don't think they are hurting as much as low income families in the northern states that will have to cut up their furniture to heat their homes next winter.

Isolated locations are often difficult to get to other than by aircraft and that is expensive for anything, even other than fuel.

Check the average income status of the oil people in Alaska and it will paint a different picture.

Gosh, do we look really dumb, or what? When you read this whole (silly) article, you find that gas prices in Alaska are less than 50 cents per gallon higher than here in California. So where did the extra $4.00 per gallon come from? Maybe from that "bridge to nowhere" they recently funded from a congressional earmark.

Its always been expensive to live in Alaska.
Export the oil to the lower 48 and send it back as lubricating oil, diesel and gasoline.
The price you pay to live in Paradise....
What about that 0% state income taxes and those oil royalty checks for the long term residents?

And every man, woman and child living in Alaska gets an annual check for thousands of dollars from the state. Their "share" of the excise taxes Alaska charges for the oil extracted from the state.
