Seems pretty obvious that increasing energy efficiency is cheaper and better than finding new energy sources...

Promoting greater energy efficiency while developing more alternative energy sources will be a part of our futures. Personally, I like my CFL's. As the old light bulbs fail I have replacement them. My savings each month is now $8-$10. I am looking forward to replacing the CFL's with LED as the price for them declines and their lumens increase. I also replaced my furnace with a 90+ efficiency model and will do the same with my a/c unit. The savings I have achieved on my winter heating bill is just slightly more than the increased cost for the gas. I just wish there had been more rebates and tax savings when I bought the furnace.

Do you really think so???? I prefer the savings I have each month.

The "supply-demand balance" isn't being used now, why do you think it will be used in the future?

Well, duh. But does that mean everyone using a natural gas furnace to warm their house must have it replaced with a high efficiency one? I don't think that will happen quickly.

Natural gas is cheap and plentiful. But big oil has the government in their pockets.

studies, panels and commissions do little in the way of real benefit to drivers. just more money spent on nothing, much like the census and obamacare we already know there are over 30 million illegals being supported by our tax dollars, but do we correct the problem ?????????? HELL NO !!!!!!!!!!!! remember in november !!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a place for efficiency especially as energy costs rise. But do not be fooled. We will NOT "save our way" out of the energy crisis.
And we don't need forced savings boondoggles like banning incandescent lights and forcing people onto other unproven technologies. Fluorescents have their drawbacks. Ever break one? Call in the Hazmat squad -- you have a mercury hazard!
The real solution is:
Drill baby drill!

Which is exactly why Ford Motors is leading the way in creating more efficient gasoline engines.
Good management, making the right decision for their stockholders AND consumers.

"Efficiency" huh? That is a facade. Tighter governmental control or regulation of the commodities market to reign in speculation is the way.

Cars are getting more efficient. It's just a matter of time until we can stop caring about the Middle East.

If they are considering using natural gas in vehicles, then who is going to pay for all of the conversions that it will take in order to use it?
