US Cash Products-Gasoline differentials mostly steady
Thursday, July 17, 2008
Reuters -- NEW YORK, July 16 (Reuters) - U.S. cash gasoline differentials were flat to slightly firmer as futures fell for a second day and the arb for imports from Europe was seen closed, traders said on Wednesday.

The gasoline and heating oil futures sell-off was sparked by an unexpected increase in both distillate and gasoline stocks, according to the government's inventory data for the week ending July 11.

"Refineries ran at a higher pace. Gasoline was up 2.4 million barrels and demand was still weak. Some of the diesel exports slowed a bit. The only positive bulls can draw on is the half million barrel draw at Cushing. Every other component is pretty bearish," said Rob Kurzatkowski of OptionsXpress.

lots of industry jargon to confuse the conclusion that demand is down but refiners don't want to let go of their margins . . .

Hmmm?! supply and demand, if supply is high and the demand is low, prices should equal low. But factor in greed, prices will rise!

Hmmm, supply is up and demand is down (price down ~7%), and yet prices at the pump are largely still unaffected.

"Why are we EXPORTING diesel fuel, per this article?"

To drive up our cost of everything and have the word look at us being the bad guy in food prices seeing we provide to the world !

Gasoline prices are unchanged around here. Although, some of our stations haven't gone above $3.999 per gallon. The price was the same at $130 to $147 per barrel. Diesel went up to $4.939 this week.

Prices here are not budging, but we could be on the edge of the oil bubble busting, oil should drop to below $50 a barrel and gas to below $2.00 a gallon.

Lower demand is lowering prices. Keep it up. Now strengthen the dollar and we can get more leverage.

I am so sick of the U.S. exporting products that WE need. When, oh when, are we going to take care of our own first and the rest of the world second. Sheesh.

Prices at the pump only stay steady when the price per barrel goes down. If there is a penny per barrel rise, you can bet the price at the pump will go up.
